St Mary's School
Northampton
At St Mary’s School Northampton, caring for God’s creation is not an extra program. It is part of who we are, how we learn, and how we live every day. Our newly developed Laudato Si’ Action Plan brings together the wonderful environmental, faith and community initiatives already happening across our school and provides a clear vision for the future.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home, the plan focuses on practical actions that empower students to become responsible stewards of creation while strengthening our Catholic identity and connection to the Northampton community.
From student-led environmental projects, native and edible gardens, recycling initiatives, water-wise practices and outdoor learning experiences, to developing our Reflection Garden and strengthening our connection to Nhanda Country, this plan reflects our commitment to faith in action.
The photos capture this vision in action, with students already learning through hands-on experiences in our outdoor spaces and gardens. Together, we are creating a culture where sustainability, service, learning and faith work hand in hand.
Our priorities include:
Growing living learning spaces
Reducing waste and resource use
Deepening ecological spirituality
Empowering students and families to lead change
Building a sustainable future for generations to come As Pope Francis reminds us,“The work of Laudato Si’ is not extra work – it is the way we teach, lead and live.”
